Hello from Sundsvall!!

Now – this Blog for the following five days or so, I’ll try to write both in Finnish and in English. As many readers will be from Finland – but I know there’s few foreign readers as well, so I’ll try to keep everyone happy. Oh, and the Finnish will be very poor… (Scroll down to find the English version..)

Elikka – tama blogi tassa seuraavan viikon aikana on niin Suomeksi kuin Englanniksikin, joskin erittain huonolla Suomen kielella 🙂

Pitkan reissun jalkeen saavuin tanne Sundsvallin kaupunkiin Perjantai iltana kello 19.00 – n. 13 tunnin reissailun jalkeen Birminghamista.

Hallille matkaa hotellilta n. 900 metria – joten ihan kivan lahella. Huomenna sitten paasee sisaltakin sita tutkimaan, mutta tassa kuvaa ulkopuolelta – nayttanyt paikallinen ‘iso herra’ tulla traktorilla kaymaan puntti-salilla…

Sundsvall Arena

Yritan laittaa tanne myos ‘The Daily Dragon’ kuvaa – koska kaupunki on aivan taynna erilaisia Lohikaarmeita.. ihmeellinen kaannos.. LohiKaarme.. Salmon Snake?? Mutta tassa ensimmaisen illan, erittain sopiva kuva…

Ja siina taman illan plorinat Suomeksi…

Evening from Sundsvall… an epic journey up here from Birmingham, getting up at 3am and flying to Stockholm via Amsterdam – then missing a train by three minutes at Arlanda airport (all due to luggage people not working fast enough ;-)). All the following trains were sold-out – except for one 1st class ticket.

But luckily I figured some local trains, with few changes of trains that cost a lot less and got me here by 7pm – so only really 16 hours since I woke up, and I only traveled to Sweden.

After checking-in to the hotel, it was the usual ‘reccy’ of finding the Arena where the games are held, which is about 1/2 a mile from the hotel, and noticed that local ‘big shot’ had taken his tractor to go to the Gym while photographing there (see first photo).

Then it was to grab a bite to eat, which was ‘Gourmet Junk Food’ – not quite sure how it was Gourmet – but maybe it was the coleslaw and tomato in my burger.. and no ketchup. Across the road from me some of the Swedish team were having their dinner, down the road the Icelandic team was enjoying their evening cup of coffee and the Finnish Head Coach walked past me while I was eating and we exchanged quick ‘hello’s before they continued on their way.

As we are in Sundsvall – which by the looks of it is the origin of Dragons. I will add a ‘Daily Dragon’ photo over here as well, and what better way to start it than with a basketball related dragon… While looking at all the dragons, I thought how silly the Finnish translation of the name is.. in Finnish it is Lohikaarme.. which in a direct translation is Salmon (Lohi) Snake (Kaarme).. Suppose dragons do have scales.. but they really don’t look much like fish to me..

Anyways – long enough of a day already for me here. Time to get some rest.. tomorrow it’s GAME TIME!!
